A Datadog alternative for teams that want one platform, not one bill per signal

Middle Monitor unifies traces, metrics, logs and error tracking in a single OpenTelemetry-native platform. It is aimed at engineering teams who want full-stack correlation without an enterprise procurement cycle.

Datadog is a mature, extremely broad platform with a large integration catalogue. If you need hundreds of turnkey integrations or deep enterprise compliance tooling, it remains a strong fit.

One platform across four signals

Traces, metrics, logs and errors land in the same system rather than in four tools. Correlation links tie an application to the hosts and services it depends on, so an error detail view shows the infrastructure and dependency checks that were failing in the same window.

OpenTelemetry-native, so you are not locked in

Instrumentation is standard OTLP. The Go, Node.js, Python, Rust and browser SDKs wrap OpenTelemetry rather than replacing it, so the same instrumentation can be pointed elsewhere if you ever move.

Infrastructure without agent configuration

The binary agent installs with a single command on Linux and macOS and reports CPU, memory, disk and network on a configurable interval, 60 seconds by default. Host groups scope alert correlation to a machine and its role.

Transparent, self-serve pricing

A free tier covers one host with 7-day retention. Pro covers up to 10 hosts, 50 monitored services, continuous profiling and 30-day retention. There is no per-signal quote process.

Frequently asked questions

Can Middle Monitor replace Datadog APM?

For distributed tracing, error tracking, continuous profiling and alerting, yes — those are core Middle Monitor features. Teams with a large existing library of Datadog-specific integrations should check that catalogue coverage first.

Does migrating require re-instrumenting my services?

If you already emit OpenTelemetry, you point the OTLP exporter at Middle Monitor. If you use Datadog's proprietary tracer, you move to the OpenTelemetry SDK for your language first.
